Israeli Vice Prime Minister Shaul Mofaz
with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will meet with Israeli Vice Premier Shaul Mofaz on Sunday, a Palestinian official said on Thursday, in the highest-level meeting between the sides since peace talks broke down in 2010.

Mofaz recently returned from a diplomatic visit in Washington, where he held high-level meetings with US officials on the state of Israel-PA relations. Simultaneously, the PLO's Erekat also visited the US for talks with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on ways of reviving the stalled peace talks with Israel.

Liberman on Iranian VP:
Hitler also said crazy things

Christian News

Foreign Minister Liberman on Wednesday condemned Iranian first Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi for a speech he gave at a UN conference in Tehran on Tuesday in which he blamed Jews for controlling the international drug trade.

"Hitler also said crazy things and succeeded in carrying out his plan," Liberman stated, adding that the world has not yet fully come to understand the danger that Iran poses.

June 23 article:
GOP lawmakers claim Air Force is 'hostile toward religion'

The 66 lawmakers said the changes can be traced back to a memo last year from Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz that said chaplains, “not commanders,” are expected to notify airmen of chaplains’ religious programs. The lawmakers said this suggested “that the mere mention of these programs is impermissible” and that combined with the other incidents, goes “beyond the requirements of the Constitution.”

“The changes lend credence to the notion that the Air Force will remove any reference
to God or faith that an outside organization brings to its attention,” they wrote.

Among the incidents:

  • A decision to remove a Latin reference to "God" from a logo/motto for the Rapid Capabilities Office
  • A decision to stop requiring staff to check for Bibles in Air Force Inn rooms
  • The removal of a document from a distance-learning course for Squadron Officer School that suggested chapel attendance is a sign of strong leadership
  • The suspension of an ethics course because the material included Bible passages

"The men who have done the most for God in this world have been early on their knees. He who fritters away the early morning, its opportunity and freshness, in other pursuits than seeking God will make poor headway seeking Him the rest of the day. If God is not first in our thoughts and efforts in the morning, He will be in the last place the remainder of the day." - E. M. Bounds
